OPEN LETTER TO DR MULUZI

As a passionate follower of your political rise, I am writing to ask you to recues yourself from the next coming general elections well before anything happens. It is true that when death is close, the victim does not know. Not to be seen as one of those people de-campaigning your efforts to bounce back, all I am trying to calculate Mr. Former President is what will happen incase what you see as impossible happens, the political landscape in the country is not all that favorable for you to stand and win.

At least Mr. Former President, I need to congratulate you for managing well the four years that you have been out of office and for sure your coming back is not a crime at all. The guts you have shown is worthy emulating. You have shown that you are a courageous man and don’t fear anything. However, remember how people have been respecting you all these years and come a day after the elections and you emerge as a loser.

I know Sir that many of us will be embarrassed but your own embarrassment will be a shock and a disgrace to the nation. I fully understand and sympathize with you on how you feel after somebody who you campaigned for dumped you and your party to form his own party and government, on the way poaching some for the high cream that you had in your camp.

Even though Mr. former President, the spirit of revenge and vengeance does not exist in today’s’ world. Let the past go and let us strategize on something better to do than thinking of bouncing back to power. Remember what you used to tell us when you were our father on the helm that government is a passion thing and no one should stay there for ever. In the same spirit, I beg that you allow the young blood you gloomed in your time take over. I mean the fresh blood of the Brown Mpinganjira, Friday Jumbe, Clement Stambuli, George nga Mtafu, and many others take over. Or give me good reasons why you don’t think they can not do a good job if elected.

Mr. Former President, do you want to tell me that these people are not fully baked that they cannot head a government? Or is it just in the vengeance spirit?

Look Dr. Muluzi, there are a lot of things that you can do outside politics like what our dear friend Aleke Banda has done. Look at the children dying so innocently of poverty and HIV/Aids, look at the number of young people going in and out of prison for no good reason, look at the cancer issue which is really serious. Take a minute in your house and think. Remember also that the whole Africa holds you in high esteem

Also think of how your family is going to cope incase you lose the elections, or maybe the law really bars you from standing. I will not say much on the law since I am not well versed on it but what I know is that in elections one has to be a loser and one a victor, the loser might be you, the winner might be you

I am asking you Mr. Former President to transfer the plans that you have for this country to another person in the party, if there is no one in the party I suggest you use your tricks to get someone on board and start campaigning now ready for victory. I assure you Mr. president that these are my own views and no one has sent me to say this to you, for your assurance some more people will be taken head on in my next letters that I will be writing.

Thank you for taking your time to read my letter.
