TOO SOON TO DIE?

Thursday was another hectic day altogether. There is nothing in the world that brings much joy than the presence of a mother. A mother offers comfort, love, assurance and joy to everybody around.

I am not trying to demise the strength and the abilities of a man in a house, but sometimes it just surprises me how women are much respected in a community than men. Why is it that the mothers day is given much attention and respect that the father’ day?

The mothers’ day has just passed in my country and the attention that it received is beyond explanation-Many went back to their home villages just to be with their mother and appreciate the love that they provided in making an effort in raising a child and making him become a somebody in the world.

Just a day after the mothers day, something terrible happened right in front of my two naked eyes which made my heart lose its be for a minute.
The day was just shiny and amazing than any other day. A mother with her caring arms had to carry her daughter at her back and decided to go and visit friends in the community.

On her way, as she was crossing the road, a speeding Hiace minibus (mdulamoyo) was speeding from the capital city heading towards the Zambia border. The minibus then decided to overtake another vehicle which was in front, the driver losing control left the road to seek help from the dusty road in helping to overtake.

Nothing would have helped the driver to stop the vehicle from hitting an innocent mother who had finished crossing the road, the mother and her child at the back died on the spot. The driver turned the minibus and rub for his life leaving the two battling to live. Nothing would have stopped the poor villagers from beating the driver as the pain was too had to contain.

Then the love of a mother had to be seen as the whole village flocked with tears rolling down their cheeks. No people in one family losing their lives on the road. Terrible!

So surprising, not with the warm heart of Africa perception all the vehicles passing didn’t posses the pity of helping the poor villagers. Though on a tight schedule, our vehicle had to stop and take the poor woman to the hospital. All hope was lost as it was obvious that the two had lost their lives and the going to the hospital was just for confirmation. I lost my breath and for a moment meditated on what death can do unexpectedly!
