BRAVO BINGU! BRAVO DPP!BRAVO MEC! BRAVO MALAWI!

it happened to be a day of mixed reactions to malawians following the voting pattern that vaught some bruised and others celebrating. the most alarming of it all was the fall of giants in the elections, in the DPP, MCP and UDF.

in my laymans analysis, i had predicted no go zones for opposers and outright winners in others constituencies, to my shock and many others, all those that were favourites in the elections had to fall.

but what store the show, was the first center that was counted in the evening of tuesday after the voting; Bingu 472, Tembo 23 and other competetors getting ones and zeros. I had to take it for granted that the main contender in the elections, John Tembo, will pick himself up and turn the tables. to my surprises, the figures never changed for the rest of the night.

though a lot has been said already, i feel duty bound to coment on the elections for they mark the most entrigueing period in malawis democracy and probably will be the best moment of 2009. Bingu has won with a landslide. it takes a statesman to agree with the results and also takes a statesman to accept rivals at the enaguration ceremony, former president Dr. bakili Muluzi was in attendance and many other dignatories. this was after a hard campaign muluzi went through after being barred by the law to contest and prefered to back Tembo in the elections.

Personally i did not expect Dr. Bingu to win with a landslide after two big parties had merged to oust him out of office. at the same time i never expected the democratic progressive party to amass so many seats in parliament bearing in mind that the party is less than five years old, my congrats to them all for proving critis wrong.

I never expected the elections also to be as peaceful as demostrated considering the roumors of theft and rigging prior to the elections, but malawians had to prove me wrong by doing just the right thing which is rare in african context, coming out in large numbers and speaking out aloud. I said sometime ago that when malawians want to speak, the do it in a hard way that you can not believe in. thats exactly what happened. malawians have spoken. a handshake to you all!

Malawi electoral elections; did a good job. they were never driven by emotions but did it to the best of what they would have done. Led by a woman, it was a capable combination and i raise my hands in appreciation.

This should set as an example to all african nations that there is life after every elections and that pa msasa sayipitsa no matter how gruelling the campaign can be or no matter how much you hate your enemy. I would to hear the same familiar story in other countries in african and beyond.

What remains for malawians now is development, the country is still poor despite registering good strides economically, much more has to be done.

To my MPs, its time to play by what our people want and not our wishes as it is clear that come 2014 these raw malawians will speak.

Malawi is no doubt a changed country right now.Alot of us never expected Bingu to win like that indeed-You are right-! Now this has left us with alot of lessons to learn from.Of all the lessons the most respected lesson,to me, is that we should never take people(malawians) for granted.Just beacause one has com to your political gathering doesnt mean they wanna vote for you or thet support you, rather they wanna have a feel of your developmental agendas.I strongly feel Malawians deserve such a very BIG hand dhake indeed.A hand-shake to you to Mr. E. Mwalae for this well written article! BRAVO BINGU,BRAVO DPP,BRAVO MEC,BRAVO MALAWIANS AND LASTLY BRAVO MR. E.MWALE!! AND OFCOZ BRAVO MR.A.KALUDZU!!
