Its that season again when people are soaked in dirty rainy water splashed to them by speeding and cruising vehicles. the whole respect evaporates as when you think you are well dressed to draw an everlasting attention from people, a vehicles speeds and splashes you with rain water.
if it is not the vehicle the accidentally you forget your umbrella at home and suddenly it starts raining, the drama is uncontrollable! especcially on women when diembarking from minibuses run in fear of soaking their hair, running also becomes heavy if you are not used.
Thats the drama that characterised lilongwe City on the day of tuesday as rain oozed like no ones business, it was unexpected that you would not stop laughing at the automatic drama.the whole sky suddenly was covered with clouds and then single drops of rain, then it poures...blessings...blessings.....blessings! the joy for people in homes was beyond explaination and description, its that time again to go to the field and plant different crops. expectations are high on the subsidy input program, will it do the wonders again.
mixed reactions though as fears are still there that others may miss out. this is a new opportunity for poor farmers in the country to prove that the bumper harvest experienced some two year ago was not a fluke or come by chance, but can be sustained, i hear Dr. Bingu wa mutharika is to receive another award on food security, commendable and we need to be proud of that. however greater credit should go to the people who work in the field.
almost all the parts of the country have had this kind of rain, though if you see the field preparations seems not to be ready for planting, the field are not yet done, poor planning which has to be improved for a bumper harvest. we need to take farming as a habit as it is malawian gold.
All in all, we expect agood harvest this year.
